Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

1. What is an audioprosthetist?

An audioprosthetist is the professional who assists you in selecting, fitting, adjusting, repairing, and regularly maintaining your hearing aids. They will support you throughout your hearing journey.

2. What is the difference between an audioprosthetist and an audiologist?

  • Audioprosthetist: Offers, adjusts, and maintains hearing aids.

  • Audiologist: Evaluates hearing disorders.

In our clinic, we work in collaboration with audiologists and ENT specialists (otolaryngologists) if necessary.

3. Do I need a prescription to see an audioprosthetist?

No, you can make an appointment directly with an audioprosthetist for information or screening without a medical referral.

4. What are the signs of hearing loss?

  • You often ask people to repeat themselves.

  • You increase the volume of the television or phone.

  • You have difficulty following a conversation in a noisy environment.

5. At what age should I have a hearing test?

It is recommended to have a hearing evaluation every 2-3 years after the age of 50, or earlier if you notice symptoms of hearing loss.

On average, a hearing aid lasts about 5 years, with regular maintenance and adjustments as needed.
